The Valley will be getting its second round of mosquito spray. It's part of a three-county collaboration to fight the spread of mosquitoes. (0)

Looks like Tropical Storm Edouard will be hitting Texas near Houston. (2)

I like this photo from 236.com which reports most of the news, some of the time.

Post Hurricane Dolly

God I love this place!  I’m selling my interview story for a $1 million for any news outlet.  No, not really.

That previously uploaded video on YouTube ignited a bunch of bullshit and idiots from all walks of life were spewing a bunch of retarded comments like, “swim wetbacks swim” and others that said, “keep terrorists out.”  I don’t know what that last one had anything to do with the hurricane, but stupidity has an amazing way of proliferating itself in the anonymous reaches of cyberspace.  Cowards are anonymous.

Moving on.  Some interesting experiences with this hurricane though.  For one, there was this ugly howl throughout the whole day and night.  At first I thought it was a plane….stalling for a few hours…I was stupid wrong. Second, I captured some video during the day of the devistation - while drunk.  I’m going to tell you straight up, running out of beer during the rain sucks.  Before a major storm, get the case, ’cause a sixer ain’t gonna do shit.

Then, this morning after power was restored, I turned it to the History Channel and they’re talking about a “Hypercane” which is a hurricane with twice the power of a category 5 hurricane.  We just went through a category 1 - Katrina was a category 5 - so I’ll take what I can get.

UPDATES:  I uploaded another video to show another canal filled with water.  Yeah, I know I build excitement - not my fault it turns you on.  Video after the jump! Read more.

Now it’s a wating game

Turns out Hurricane Dolly is just chilling out right at the border.  Last reports in said she’s just sipping a margarita.  When asked if she was going to make land fall, she said, “What for? I’m in the Valley - I don’t have to work as hard!  I’m chillin’.”

The vid at top was shot at Wal-Mart in McAllen, Texas.  Our most viewed to date.  More to come.

Hurricane Watch

Posted by Keen on Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

This is a first for Tenet Community to track a storm.  Tropical Storm Dolly is currently headed towards Mexico and will brush up against South Texas.  Dolly is expected to turn into hurricane status before landfall.  Although hurricane status, Dolly is expected to be a Category 1 hurricane with sustained winds at less than 75 miles per hour.  75 miles per hour is the equivalent of sticking your hand out of a car while on the expressway.  Click here for radar visual.  For those who are fearing for their lives, the National Guard have mobilized to meet with the watery threat.

Undisclosed sources (or imaginary friends, whichever) tells Tenet Community, “I don’t know what we’re doing here, what are we going to do?  Throw sticks and rocks at the hurricane when it hits land?  Last I heard, the Sargent wanted us to gather for a rain dance and some of us where just, doh!”

Other undisclosed sources close to the storm tell us everyone’s acting like a bunch of idiots and wouldn’t elaborate as to who they were referring to.  Some are going as far to say that we should evacuate.  Others are saying they’re asses with no sense of adventure.  As is usual; oil companies are gathering together to figure our how the hell they’re going to make money from the cursed waters that will soon plague the land and the people.  Stay with us, more to come.

1:00 PM UPDATE:  Forcasters are saying that the storm is intensifying and reported on wind speeds an isolated peak of about 75 miles per hour or 65 knots.  They expect the storm’s winds to be at more than 90 miles per hour when it hits land.

DPS Hurricane preparation checklist

Who’s throwing the hurricane party?

When there’s a hurricane or tropical storm in the Gulf, it’s a good idea to check your emergency supply kit and review your family plans for emergencies. Monitor broadcasts and listen to instructions from local officials. Having emergency supplies in easy-to-carry containers will serve you well, no matter what kind of natural or man made emergency you may face.
